It is said that when a lady married a Norseman, and he was a carver, he would present these spoons with chains to his bride. This was a form of a wedding ring in the Norse culture, Charles Caspersen is also know in historical re enactment groups ad from time to time travels to these events. In historical persona he is known in the SCA as Lord Kasper receiving his award of arms from the SCA August 2008 at an SCA event known as the Tir Righ Summer Investiture.
